Testing the Hypothesis

The opportunity that I'm pursuing is the problem of the lack of international restaurants in Gainesville in Florida.

The who: Brazilian people in Gainesville, people who likes Brazilian food.
The what: Not being able to eat Brazilian food.
The why: No convenient Brazilian restaurant located near Gainesville.

Testing the who: I think that not only Brazilian people in Gainesville have the need, but also everyone that likes Brazilian food.
Testing the what: Finding a way to open Brazilian restaurants in Gainesville.
Testing the why: Driving to other cities to be able to eat Brazilian food.

Interview 1:
I interviewed someone from Brazil that lives in Gainesville, and she said that she has the same problem. Her opinion is that it is crazy that there is no Brazilian restaurant in Gainesville with the number of Brazilian living here. It is a need that she experiences regularly because she just came to the United States and she is trying to adapt to American food.

Interview 2:
I interviewed someone that really likes Brazilian food. He said that is not a need that he experiences regularly, but it is still a need that he experiences somedays. He said that it is inconvenient that he has to drive all the way to Ocala when he wants to eat some Brazilian food. He also said that hopes that in a few years they will open more Brazilian restaurants in Florida.

Interview 3:
I interviewed another Brazilian that lives in Gainesville for years now. She said that it is a need that she experiences often, even though she is already used to American food. She just wishes that there would be a better place to buy Brazilian food, even to cook at home.

Interview 4:
I interviewed someone that knows that this is a problem for Brazilian people. She does not have the same need, but she has friends that experience that, so she just wanted to be able to cook and take them somewhere close to eat when they want.

Interview 5:
I interview another Brazilian that was born in Brazil but moved to the United States when she was young. She said that it is not a need that she experiences, but she wishes that she could eat food from where she is actually from.

I conclude that there are many people in Gainesville that has the same opportunity, but there are also people that just know that exists. I think that everyone would agree that something has to change about the opportunity.

  1. Hi Emanuely,
I agree with your point that we need better food in Gainesville. As someone from Cuba, I can definitely tell you that the ethnic foods here are not the best. Having a Brazilian restaurant in Gainesville would dramatically show how diverse of a city Gainesville is. I love Brazilian food and I hope that a Brazilian restaurant is opened up here.

  2. Hi Emanuely,
I could not be more on board to get more international options brought to Gainesville. Too long have we suffered with sub-par food and I believe as you do bringing in these food options could greatly improve the cuisine offered here. And it seems that opening a Brazilian restaurant here would solve a lot of peoples current food troubles. I think it's a great idea and hope someone does open a Brazilian restaurant.

  3. Hey Emanuely,
As a an avid lover of all kinds of all foods, I completely agree that we need more foreign eateries! Although there is a great variety of options on archer road, there are few authentic international restaurants. I think opening a Brazilian restaurant around campus or even by Archer, Celebration point or Centre Pointe! these are all up and coming real estate developmental areas that can use some great foreign cuisine.
