Idea Napkin No. 1


  1. Me: I am a sports management major. Personally, I am really good at time management. I always played sports, since I was 5 years old, so from a young age, I had to learn how to manage my time effectively so I could finish everything on time. So if I were to start a business right now, I would know and would work however many hours I needed to be done with the work. 
  2. What are you offering to customers: I am offering international restaurants with food from all over the world in Gainesville Florida. It will be like a food hall, a street with only international restaurants. 
  3. Who are you offering it to: I am offering to everyone who likes international food. I think that will be mostly international people who live in Gainesville Florida, but anyone who likes it can come and eat. 
  4. Why do they care: I know for my own experience how hard it is to adapt with new food, and Gainesville has many international people living there. Some people cannot even adapt to food and have to go back to their country because the place where they live does not have food from their country. So I think that people who experience that will care about having or not having international restaurants. 
  5. What are your core competencies: As I mentioned before I have experienced what I am trying to give to them, so I understand each one of my customers. 

I believe that these elements fit together. I believe that would be a great business, and a great opportunity to help international people living in Gainesville, Florida. Also, if the food hall does not work, there is always another way to build international restaurants, so there is always a plan B for every plan.

Reading Reflection No. 3

What was the general theme or argument of the book?  Daniel Kahneman's "Thinking, Quick and Slow"  The general point around this book is that you have in mind two mechanisms that continuously battle for decision power.  How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? This book helped me more financially when learning about the two main mechanisms that conflict with my decision making.  If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? The exercise would have many problems that students would have to solve thinking fast. What was your biggest surprise or aha moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations? Just learning to not overthink too much.

An unmet need that I found was the lack of international food in Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville is a college town where a lot of international people come to study or even just to leave there, but unfortunately, Gainesville does not provide them with food from their country. Gainesville also does not have anywhere where they can buy food to cook. There is not a specific type of customer. The customers will be from all over the world, so I cannot imagine only one type. What I have in common with the customers is that I am from another country and I live in Gainesville, I have the same need.
