Celebrating Failure
1) Tell us about a time this past semester that you failed -- whether in this class, or outside of this class. Don't spare any details! It'd be even better if there was something you tried several times this semester, and failed each time.
I failed twice on my class of microeconomics, I failed both midterms.
2) Tell us what you learned from it.
I honestly learned that it is okay to fail, I always wanted to get good grades, and I used to worry too much about it. I mean I think that it is important to get good grades, but worry too much about it is not a good thing.
3) Reflect, in general, on what you think about failure. Failure is hard, isn't it? It's embarrassing, sure, but it also means that we have to change something about ourselves. Talk about how you handle failure (emotionally, behaviorally). Finally, talk about how this class has changed your perspective on failure -- are you more likely to take a risk now than you were just a few months ago?
Failure is hard, but it is something that you cannot control it sometimes. I play sports since at a young age, so failure is something that I have been learning since I started playing. This class definitely helped me to take more risks because it is okay to do that and fail, but the most important thing is to never stop trying.

Hey Emanuely,
ReplyDeleteI think you opening up about failing microeconomics shows a lot about you and your maturity. Most people are very embarrassed about admitting this, but you clearly are not. Learning from your mistakes and overcoming obstacles is all part of the growing up and maturing process. I agree in your statements about caring too much about grades! I think learning is more important that obtaining a good grade, and the fact that this class has inspired you to take risks is important! Most great entrepreneurs will fail at one time! Great post Emanuely.
Hey Emanuely,
ReplyDeleteI understand your troubles with microeconomics! I know I took that one twice myself. I had that realization on failing while I was in high school, kinda wish I had that lesson a little later on in academics. I really appreciate your view. You're right, this class does teach you to put yourself out there with your ideas, regardless on if they're good or bad. It helps you learn from things even if you're unwilling, you just have to take the first step and do it.
Hey Emanuely,
ReplyDeleteI feel you on failing microeconomics, It's a very hard concept to grasp and took me a while before I passed that class. I really respect that you were able to open up about this failure and it shows that you are capable of moving past it. I also can relate to you about sports and how it instills a work ethic in you of pushing past failure and finding your true capabilities.
