Idea Napkin No. 2

You 
I am a sophomore at the University of Florida, majoring in sports management. I am an international student having an idea that will help all the other international students, maybe helping them to provide their unmet needs.

What are you offering to customers?
I am offering a food hall where American or international people that lives in Gainesville can find food from other countries. It meets the need of a lot of students and people that live in Gainesville, but especially people from other countries that come to live in Gainesville, Florida.

Who are you offering it to?
I am offering to everyone who likes food from other countries and international people that have the need for having international restaurants in Gainesville, Florida.

 Why do you care?
I am an international student living in Gainesville, Florida, so I understand how hard it is to not have international restaurants there.

What are your core competencies? 
I am a hard worker that cares a lot about other people. I think that it is important to care about your customers' needs.

    Hi Emanuely,
    I think that it is very important that you are an international student who is wishing to spread the idea of having an international dining hall. This shows that you understand and respect various cultures and are passionate about spreading those among other people. I think that you being a direct customer of what your product would be would be giving you a leg up and expertise in the entire situation. I believe that you would be the right person to deliver this product.

    Hi Emanuely,
    As an international student myself, i have experienced the same problem here in Gainesville. There aren't a lot of options here and even those places that serve other cuisines, the taste just isnt just the same. With such limited options, your entrepreneurial plan would work perfectly here because there are a lot of international students at UF. The fact that your main motive is customer satisfaction shows your dedication and how hard you're willing to work to get the results. I would love to see some new fresh options here in Gainesville.

    Emanuely, I believe being a hard worker is important to the success of any new venture but especially in the restaurant space. It is important to care about the needs of your customers and you having a genuine desire to satisfy customers will go a long way. I also think you being an international student that may have trouble finding the quality international cuisine that you desire gives you a unique ability to identify a hole in the market. I think that having a dining hall with cuisine from multiple regions or countries is also a good idea because the variety would reduce the possibility of you misjudging which type of food will sell. Another benefit I see from the dining hall is the ability for the different kitchens to pool food costs which cost reduce waste.

    I think it's very important that we have restaurant variety in Gainesville including international food. Not only will it help by acting as comfort food for those individuals like you who are international students, but it will also add unbeknownst food to other native students. I think its a great idea and it will also help that you're so invested in this business and how passionate you are for it. This will help customers see these new restaurants the same way you do.

Reading Reflection No. 3

What was the general theme or argument of the book?  Daniel Kahneman's "Thinking, Quick and Slow"  The general point around this book is that you have in mind two mechanisms that continuously battle for decision power.  How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? This book helped me more financially when learning about the two main mechanisms that conflict with my decision making.  If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? The exercise would have many problems that students would have to solve thinking fast. What was your biggest surprise or aha moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations? Just learning to not overthink too much.

An unmet need that I found was the lack of international food in Gainesville, Florida. Gainesville is a college town where a lot of international people come to study or even just to leave there, but unfortunately, Gainesville does not provide them with food from their country. Gainesville also does not have anywhere where they can buy food to cook. There is not a specific type of customer. The customers will be from all over the world, so I cannot imagine only one type. What I have in common with the customers is that I am from another country and I live in Gainesville, I have the same need.
